Sir Miles Warren Award for Commercial Architecture

The Sir Miles Warren Award for Commercial Architecture recognises the career of one of New Zealand’s most successful and prolific architects, Sir Miles Warren (1929-2022).

As an architect, Sir Miles was renowned, among many things, for a truth-to-materials and structural expressiveness characteristic of the New Brutalism that he introduced to New Zealand more than fifty years ago. Sir Miles was the architect of some of the landmark New Zealand buildings of the last half century, including College House, 65 Cambridge Terrace and Christchurch Town Hall. The Sir Miles Warren Award for Commercial Architecture pays respect to Sir Miles’ long record of high quality work, and his generous contribution to his profession.
